melissabarru-0284-crop-592x592Melissa Barru, violin, completed her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May 2015 studying violin performance and chamber music with Dr. Bernard Zinck. Her Bachelor’s Degree is in Music Education, with an emphasis in K-12 Instrumental Music, from the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied with Mr. Richard Fuchs on violin and chamber music with Dr. Juliet White-Smith. Melissa has been an active violin and viola teacher as well as freelance performer in Colorado since 2007 and Wisconsin from 2013-1015. Currently Melissa plays in the 1st Violin Section of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra which she joined in 2011. She has attended various music festivals including The New York Summer Music Festival as a counselor, Gold Coast Chamber Music Festival, Bravo! with Sally O’Reilly and the Pierre Monteux School for Orchestral Conductors and Musicians.
